چکیده

The heterogenization of homogeneous catalysts can be achieved by immobilization, grafting, anchoring or encapsulating them in an inert solid like organic polymer or inorganic support. Transition metal complexes having good catalytic properties are immobilized through encapsulation in the super cages of zeolites is called zeolite encapsulated metal complexes (ZEMC) or ship-in-the-bottle complexes. Zeolite encapsulated metal complexes enjoy the advantageous features of homoas well as heterogeneous catalysts, these materials have provided opportunities to develop catalytic processes for various reactions such as oxidation alkylation, cyclization, acylation, isomerisation and hydrogenation etc.

Synthesis and Metal Ion Uptake Studies of Silica Gel-Immobilized Schiff Base Derivatives and Catalytic Behaviors of their Cu(II) Complexes

New silica supported Schiff base ligands were prepared by the condensation reaction of 4,6-diacetylresorcinol with silica-gel derivatives, which modified with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and N-(2-aminoethyl) -3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. Metal ion uptake capacities of these compounds were studied towards of selected transition metal (Cd(II), Cu(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Pb(II) and Ni(II)) cations...

The electroactivity of zeolite-encapsulated redox-active transition metal complexes, {M(L)}Z, was explored for Co(salen) and [Fe(bpy)3] formed in NaY zeolite (where salen ) N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine and bpy ) 2,2′-bipyridine). The zeolite boundary was characterized via X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and cyclic voltammetry in nonaqueous electrolyte at either zeolite-modified ...

A Review on Heterogeneous Solid Catalysts and Related Catalytic Mechanisms for Epoxidation of Olefins with H2O2

The epoxidation reaction using heterogeneous solid catalysts with H2O2 as oxidants are environmentally friendly routes to produce extensively useful epoxides which are traditionally obtained from capital-intensive or environmentally polluted processes. In this paper, various types of solid catalysts for the epoxidation of olefins with H2O2 as oxidants are reviewed. The efficient catalysts repor...

Mercaptosilane-assisted synthesis of metal clusters within zeolites and catalytic consequences of encapsulation.

We report here a general synthetic strategy to encapsulate metal clusters within zeolites during their hydrothermal crystallization. Precursors to metal clusters are stabilized against their premature colloidal precipitation as hydroxides during zeolite crystallization using bifunctional (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane ligands. Mercapto (-SH) groups in these ligands interact with cationic me...
